For many decades in the past, the work of the Hungarian Bible Society had been supported by the United Bible Societies. Now, we are helped through the church districts (parishes) of the Hungarian Reformed Church and other 11 member churches of the Bible Society. This is how we are able to publish, distribute and freely distribute Bibles. Since the mid 90s the financial support of our work comes entirely through the member churches (e.g. in the Reformed Church in Hungary it is the annual collection received on Scripture-Sunday in the local churches) helps us reach our goal.
Such system of support makes it no longer possible for us to distribute Bibles free of charge at any occasion and as often as we are asked to do. For that purpose we organize specific fundraising campaigns. Donations from individual supporters of the Bible Society are not spent on the overhead cost of the Bible Society, but we use it to help our member churches to engage in free Bible distributions twice a year. These events are widely publicized and churches are informed in advance through our newsletter called "Our Bible".
